Coach Kay has coached and played at high levels of basketball over the past 20 years. He graduated with a degree in English from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee where played four years; winning one conference championship and reaching the second round of the NCAA tournament. He also received his degree in English from the University of Toronto. He later went on to play in professional in Canada and have stints in Europe before entering coaching.   
Coach Kay most notably coached with the Canada Elite’s boys’ basketball program that produced players such as Shai-Gilgeous Alexander (OKC Thunder), Thon Maker (Cleveland Cavaliers) and Nickeil Alexander (NO Pelicans). He was involved in skill development while coaching the U13 and U14 teams. In 2016 he coached the Canada Elite U14 boys to 2nd place nationally (USA) in the Under Armor tournament at Disney World. Coach K was also hired by Nike to run skills camps for NBA All-Star weekend in Toronto, Canada in 2016.
