A basketball globe trotter, Coach Bilal’s passion for the game and exceptional shooting touch have allowed him to travel the world as a professional basketball player after earning a Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science from Lafayette College (class of 2008) where he was a four-year starter for the men’s basketball team.  Some of the professional leagues he competed in were in Turkey, Spain, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Finland, Romania, Austria, Lebanon, Libya, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar,

 

During his spare time, Coach Bilal has always made his talent and experience accessible to young and upcoming athletes as a coach and mentor in the cities that he lived in during his professional career.  In fact, while he is currently a long-standing coach in the Dubai Tribe and MENA All-Stars programs, he is also competing in the UAE professional league. 

 

Coach Bilal started coaching in 2014 and quickly developed a reputation for developing advanced youth basketball players as well as training professional basketball players in their off-season across USA, Europe and Middle East.  Some of the notable professional athletes Coach Bilal trained include Torey Thomas (France Pro A) and Terry Smith (France Pro A).

 

A key member of the Dubai Tribe and MENA All-Stars programs coaching staff since 2015, Coach Bilal has contributed to the development of some of the UAE’s and MENA’s most promising young talent through on court skills development and participation in several elite international competitions in USA, Italy, and Vienna.

 

In the summer of 2018, Coach Bilal was appointed as Head Coach of the Adidas Combine Academy AAU team in North Carolina, USA.  He was responsible for the on-court skills development and game time coaching of the team as well as the team’s high performance athletic training.

 

Quick Facts:

  • Earned Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science from Lafayette College with a minor in philosophy (2004-2008).

  • Member of coaching staff at Lafayette University Basketball Summer Camps, Hendricken Basketball Camp (Providence, Rhode Island), as well as  S.W.E.A.T. Basketball summer camps in Anchorage, Alaska.

  • Conducted basketball clinics at local schools while playing professionally in Finland (2008-2009).
